Irving David read law at the London School of Economics and subsequently trained with a leading London entertainment law firm, Wright & Webb.

After qualifying, he joined Warner Brothers and became head of legal and business affairs for their London-based record company and music publishing subsidiaries, WEA Records and Warner Bros Music.

In 1981, together with Vivian Wineman, he formed David Wineman which in July 2008 merged with DFM Beckman to form DWFM Beckman.

Over many years, he has built up an impressive roster of clients which reads like the Who's Who of the entertainment industry, representing countless dancers, singer-songwriters, independent music publishers, record labels, managers, agents and record producers.

He advises Scottish Ballet and the British Ballet Organization; is a board member of the celebrated Orchestra of the Swan in his home town of Stratford upon Avon; a voting member of BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts; gives frequent Master Classes to young managers at the Music Managers Forum; and contributes regularly to various trade publications such as Dance UK News on legal and commercial issues relevant to music and dance.

Since merging with DFM Beckman, Irving's practice has broadened beyond intellectual property so that, together with his colleagues, Tony Mead, Norman Beckman and Elizabeth Johnson, he now has considerable experience of the Hospitality, Leisure and Medical sectors, representing a broad range of investors and hotel, restaurant and medical companies both in the United Kingdom and overseas on transactions including hotel and medical development projects, operating and management agreements, franchising arrangements, F&B outsourcing contracts and all applicable licensing requirements.
